Please meet the newest members of the BroadBased team.
Stephanie McLain Barker, APR, brings her experience and knowledge to BroadBased as a Public Relations Consultant. Stephanie has more than 25 years’ experience in all aspects of communications and marketing with an extensive agency background. Her career has also included communications and marketing positions in public transportation, and in the engineering, telecommunications and hospitality industries. An accomplished strategic planner, her experience demonstrates a proven ability to integrate communications strategies with marketing and advertising in support of business goals and brand identities. As a former journalist and media relations professional, she frequently serves as spokesperson for her clients.
A West Virginia native, Stephanie grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from the University of North Florida with a degree in literature and communications. She enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid Harley-Davidson fan and frequent motorcycle passenger.
Tonisha Landry-Gaines recently began consulting with BroadBased as a Social Media Strategist. Having jumped headfirst into learning and incorporating social media, Tonisha recognizes the opportunity for businesses to use social media to build brand awareness, but believes that without a clear plan or strategy the result may not be effective. She has seven years of experience crafting and executing marketing outreach plans for non-profit organizations using events and both traditional and online media as methods of communication. Tonisha also serves as the Director of Social Media for the First Coast Chapter of IABC (International Association of Business Communicators).
She is a native of Panama City, Florida, and holds a B.S. in Business Economics from Florida A&M University and a certificate in Instructional Design Systems. Jacksonville has been her home for nearly 10 years. When Tonisha is not online, she spends time volunteering as a financial education facilitator, enjoys quality time in the kitchen with her family and bakes a mean pound cake!
Despina Pappas comes to BroadBased as a Public Relations Intern for her final semester of college. She is a senior at Flagler College in St. Augustine. Upon her graduation in April 2010, she will hold a B.A. in communication with a public relations emphasis. While at Flagler, Despina has worked closely with PRSSA and is the current chapter president.
Having grown up in small towns in Central Florida, Despina is enjoying a different perspective on the work while in Jacksonville. She enjoys anything that is creative and distracting, from cooking to jewelry-making, and loves going on unexpected adventures.
Jim Ward joined BroadBased as a Graphic Design Intern. He is a student at The Art Institute of Jacksonville, an active member of the Jacksonville chapter of AIGA and is president of the affiliated student chapter at his school. In addition to graphic design, Jim also works as a freelance illustrator; he co-created and contributes to the local art blog, “Art Behind the Fridge.”
Jim formerly served in the United States Navy, where he spent four years stationed in Jacksonville on board the USS John F. Kennedy. After his time in the military, he stayed in Jacksonville—partly for the weather and beaches—and opted to pursue his lifelong passion for creativity and the arts by returning to college. Jim will graduate in June 2010 and will hold a B.F.A. in Graphic Design. His design work, complemented by the background in illustration, is driven by a fascination with typography, iconography and a general desire to research and explore.
Frannie Jarrell joins us as our new receptionist and all-around office generalist. She is a freshman at Florida State College at Jacksonville (formerly FCCJ) majoring in early childhood education. Frannie’s experience includes personal proficiency with social media including MySpace and Facebook since the eighth grade.
