Hey! What Happened to My Google Ranking?
June 1, 2008
Search engine optimization strategies have produced extremely strange search results since about mid-March, when Google updated its algorithms and the way that search returns are gathered. One of the first causes for concern surfaced when the industry began noticing that consistently solid sites disappeared from top-ranked positions and that search returns were not nearly as relevant as before. New sites also were loading extremely slowly.
This is just a reminder to us all that Google can shake things up at any time. They are in the business of selling ads and not necessarily concerned about unpaid search return strategies.
On a positive note, BroadBased uses a number of “white hat” best practice strategies that are not as subject to algorithm volatility, like great content and site structure.White hat is a term used for describing SEO techniques that work in an ethical manner, in accordance with search engine guidelines. For example, writing a fresh and original article or other content is considered a white hat or ethical strategy, whereas using a particular software for generating pages of content is a black hat strategy.
